This is a charming little antique chest which dates to the late 1800s. It began life as a dressing chest and the top would have once housed a mirror. Made of solid pine the chest is fairly heavy and well made with a country look which will suit a cottage, the perfect piece if you love victorian pine. It would be ideal for a bedroom but could also be adapted to house a bowl type sink in a bathroom.
The chest has four spacious pine drawers which are finished with turned pine handles, the original drawer locks are present and the key works well in all of the locks apart from the top right drawer which is a little temperamental. The base is set on small turned feet and the top has a round moulded edge. The wood has a naturally waxed finish which is quite matt.
This piece is in solid structural condition with various small marks of age and use to the wood. The drawer interiors are very clean. Any wood worm holes are inactive but have been treated as a precaution, there are some present on two of the handles.
The top has some small filled holes where the mirror once sat. Width- 90.5cms at the top, 88cms at the base. The measurements are taken at the widest points. This item is made of pine.
