You can request that the bed be configured for use with box springs. The top of the slats for this listing is recessed from the top of the side boards by 1 inches.The queen or king size has a support under the center of the slats which is a single center beam. The double center beam shown in the photo is an option for use if the top of the slats is recessed more than 2 from the top of the sides for an added $75. The posts provided with this listing are 7 foot tall. You can request different heights if you prefer. The posts in the photo are 8 foot tall. You can modify the features of this bed to be best for your needs. The bed provided by this listing has the following attributes (some are different than the photos). All 4 posts are 84" tall, 7" wide, 2.5 deep with adjustable bottoms for uneven floors. Side boards and foot board 10 tall. Side boards and foot board connected to foot posts without visible bolts. Bottom of side and foot boards 12 off floor. Top of 12" thick mattress 30" above floor. Head board connected to head posts with cylinder made of brushed aluminum. Head board height will be 22. Top of headboard 48 off the floor.
The head board is about 1.75 thick around its perimeter. Mattress rests on 20 slats the top of which are 2 below top of side boards.No box springs is used. An i-beam shaped center beam will support the center of the slats.
This enables support without any feet to the floor from the center beam. The wood (except slats and center beam) will be your selected hardwood sanded and finished with tung oil.
